Dishwasher Position Description

As a Dishwasher, you are responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and sanitation of dishes, tableware, glassware, pots, pans, and utensils using a commercial dishwashing machine and manual cleaning methods.
Good communication skills are a must. Your teamwork with other team members is essential to the function of the restaurant. This position requires the ability to work both as a team member and independently.
Due to the nature of our business, this position requires availability to work weekends and holidays.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Ensuring the availability of clean dishes including pots, pans, cooking utensils, glasses and plates by scraping food from dishes, rinsing them off and processing through commercial dishwasher
- Puts all dishes away in designated locations
- Be respectful to equipment and dishes, avoiding excess use of force on machinery and glassware especially
- Preparing kitchen for next shift by ensuring no messes are left behind
- Sweeping and mopping floors, especially in the event of a spill
- Taking out kitchen garbage
- Must be able to effectively communicate and interact with service team members and management in high stress environment
- Must practice safe food and beverage handling and cleanliness at all times
- Reporting kitchen accidents or violations of food safety codes and procedures
- Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Trackside attendance policy
- Attend all required trainings and meetings
- Must be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance by following the Trackside Kitchen Dress Code requirements
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Minimal work experience
- Willingness to comply with all food safety procedures
- Must have knowledge of dishwashing procedures
- Knowledge of dish washing equipment, including industrial dishwashing machine
- Relies on experience and judgment to make effective decisions
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Exhibits teamwork at all times
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment
- Excellent organizational and problem solving skills
- Ability to multitask and manage time effectively
- Attention to detail, cleanliness and safety
- Responsible and trustworthy
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Lifts 10 lbs constantly, up to 25 lbs frequently, up to 50 lbs occasionally.
- Lifting from the floor to shoulder occasionally and overhead frequently
- Exposed to cleaning products such as bleach
- Color and depth perception required for vision. Needs both near and far sight
- Twists and reaches constantly
- Grasps objects to move and manipulate constantly
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time (up to 10 hours)
- Listen to and comprehend instructions team members over background restaurant and equipment and noise constantly
- Frequent hand washing required
EQUIPMENT USAGE REQUIREMENTS
- Bus tubs, trays, pots, pans, cooking utensils, glasses, plates, glass rack, commercial dishwashing machine, dishwashing chemicals, cleaning chemicals, garbage cans, food products, dish storage equipment
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
- Typical restaurant environment, heat and air conditioning, cold in freezer and walk in refrigerator.
- May experience sudden changes in temperature while seating guests outside or performing opening procedures
Teamwork is the key to our business’s success. Dishwashers are expected to work with other Dishwashers as a team, communicating with other service members including Bussers, Servers, Bartenders, Hosts and Managers. During service, here are some things you can do to promote that teamwork:
- Communicate with your team with respect, providing pertinent information you feel affects the Guest’s experience.
- Communicate with Management if there are any issues that may affect the Guest’s experience.
- If you see something is not in the correct place, or needs to be done, fix it without having to be asked to do so.
